June Bursted Out And Is Now Nearly Gone

Good afternoon, have you ever noticed hope quickly June flies in. I look forward to June I think it is my favourite month and here we are on the 25th already and next week it will be July. Up here our summer is very short and good weather is always in short supply. This year has been much better we have had little or no rain this month and it was quiet a dry spring. Already councils are talking about water shortages and hosepipe bans. After the winter we had how can this be. Stuart read a piece out of the Scotsman on Monday saying that the island of Mull is practically out of water and are having to bring it in by tanker. Hotels have had to close down and one lady that owns 8 cottages and has to cancel all here bookings. This will effect jobs where there are not many normally. Surely they do not have enough storage as I am sure they get plenty of rain being on the west coast.

It has been a lovely week up here lots of sunshine earlier on in the week a bit cloudy now but still warm enough to sit out with your book or paper. I have been reading a lot of late, have made a big change away from my thrillers to Penny Vincinzi books pure fizz but very addictive reading and each so different from the last and all about 800/900 pages so you really get into them. I have just finished one that took place during the last war about three girls and what they did during that time it was great very informative another one was about Lloyd's names and all the troubles for them in the '90 so you see what I mean all very different but great stories.

Well I think that's about it for today time to make some lunch just back from Sainsbury's with a nice crusty loaf. Till next time take care, Love Joan.

I'm glad you are enjoying good weather and hopefully will not have water problems. It seems we are hotter and wetter than usual. No doubt we will not have problem here. It rains a few days and is cooler then it heats up and rains again. To the north west of us they had terrible tornado devastation so some storms have been quite bad. Thankfully not where I am. I love being able to sit out in the summertime. I do a lot of it. I hope your day is a great one and that you get just enough rain in the future to remedy the dryness there.

We are certainly having most peculiar weather for the fist time ever I have seen someone using a garden sprinkler!

I have never been able to understand how we, a island nation surrounded by water, can go short. Even places that were flooded just a few short months ago are being restricted. It is insane but I blame the water companies for not investing their vast profits into more storage facilities and improving their pipework.

Very hot and humid here, a little too humid. Enjoy your books.

Hadn't read that about Mull...my very fav. island...I do read the Scotsman on line but you don't get the "inside" news.

Right now we're spending a week in Hampshire and I haven't known such good weatherr for years. It does seem to bring out the best in people, a little sunshine.

After the cold winter we deserve this hot weather don't we?! Water must be a problem on the islands, maybe a desalination plant would be a good idea but I know they're very expensive. I'm off to the Lake District next Sunday so I'm hoping the good weather will stay around for a while longer. In September we're coming up to Scotland so we're hoping for dry weather then. Sunshine and no rain make for great summer days. Nothing better than curling up with a GOOD book. Enjoy! But so sorry to hear about the water shortage, nearby.

We are about to begin a hosepipe ban beginning this Friday Joan. Here in the Lake district that is unusual as we do get lots of rain.. usually. Like you I have enjoyed the sunshine. Especially after such a hard winter!
