At last I have something to tell you about it has been four weeks since anything of any interest has been happening here. It has been snowing continually since about Tuesday evening it is the very wet kind of snow so hopefully it will not take so long this time to go but at the moment is is about 8" of slush.
Fortunately on Monday with a cloudless sky we decided on a run in the car, so armed with binoculars camera and a picnic we set of for the Sma Glen a favourite of ours I have written about it before. I have been visiting this glen all my life but I have never seen the river frozen. Every thing looked so cold.

So two of what I hear you ask well here they are two little Dippers bit smaller than the size of a Blackbird but they swim in rivers and streams. These two, a pair I reckon at this time of year, were diving in off the ice at the side of the river and swimming across on the surface something we have never seen before they usually dive under maybe the water was too cold. They made me cold just watching them. We had a great day out and glad we did it with the lovely weather we had at the start of the week. I am wondering what it will look like today after all this snow. Just heard on the Scottish news that all of the north of Scotland is cut off, all roads north of Stirling are blocked, never heard of things being so bad .

It is good to hear from you! This winter has been a long one and each day seems to bring only more cold and more snow. Your pictures are beautiful. The countryside there is breathtaking with the mountains and all. Here it is very flat until I go south for camping and then it is hills not mountains that I see. We are expecting another huge snow storm here by evening. Take care and keep warm!

Ive almost forgotten what it's like to go for a nice ride out Joan Brrrrrrrrr it's been too coooold.Happy to read you got a good days weather to enable you and Stuart to get out and about.I bet it felt great didn't it? Love the pictures,Allan loves the hillwalking in Scotland, and we were looking to visit this year, but left it late, and now going down South.
Our first holiday together we drove 1500 miles in Scotland. it was October,but not so cold.

I could look at such beautiful views all day Joan! Even though I have similr here in the English Lakes. There is nothing to beat the majesty of Scotland.
I would have liked to have been sat beside you both when you saw the Sea Eagles. One day I would like to be able to say I saw one.
This winter is definitely turning out to be a marathon one..isn't it?

Just calling round for a wee visit Joan to see how you and Stuart are faring. I hope the weather is geting a bit warmer for you both when you get out and about bird watching. We have snowdrops in profusion and crocus blooming now. The daffodils have tight buds which should be openeing quite soon to cheer us up here in the Lakes.
