Good Morning.

sskfallcountry7

Good Morning, one thing I love about this time of year is looking at  the way everybody uses graphics for the season and for Halloween they are all super. Halloween seems to be a bigger occasion on the US side of the pond than it is here although it is getting bigger every year.

There has not been a lot happening here since my last entry now let me think .....

I  broke my spectacles last week so they are stuck together with sticky tape. Made a good job of that and you don't see it too much.  Have an appointment next week with the optician as it was time for a new pair fortunately.

Stuart has been beavering away with his artwork, we were out on Monday and collected a few bits and pieces from the hedgerows, berries and the like to give him something to paint over the next few weeks.

I have been learning to play Canasta on line and am getting there thanks to Jeannette but still have a way to go.  I am sure  some of the people online have been playing for years and years. Still it is something to pass the time now the nights are creeping in and the TV is so bad most nights.

The county side is starting to put on its Autumn coat of many colours, it still has a way to go as we have not had a bad frost to help it along.

The Greylag and Pink footed Geese are back with us after the breeding season in the Arctic the skies are just full of them just now it is special to see them.  Some of them will continue South but a few thousand will stay all winter unless the our loch freezes over as that is where they spend the night brrrrrrrrrrr.

Think that about all the happenings from my neck of the woods for now so till next time. Take Care Love Joan

Joan I love this time of the year as well ~ all the beautiful colours on the trees and the lovely big log fires to curl up in front of ~ Halloween is getting bigger over here ~ although living out in the sticks we don't get many children this way ~ but I like to get some goodies in ~ just in case ~ Ally x

Halloween is really big here and the children love all the goodies they get Trick or Treating. Thankfully we don't get many tricks but I love seeing them dressed up in their costumes. Many just celebrate a Fall or Harvest festival instead of Halloween though. I love watching the birds and the geese flock together this time of year. It is getting cold faster than normal.
So many are going south.

Halloween is not big in this area, usually nothing going on at all. It will be nice to get your new glasses. You are lucky to be able to see those birds, obviously nothing like that for us but we are getting some birds feeding again in the garden now that the days are shorter and getting chillier.

I updated my journal this week, do not know whether you saw it. Dreading all the upheaval next week, think of us.

I love this time of year also even though it passes so quickly. People seem to spend a ton on Halloween here, mostly on decorating.. It is fun to see.

It's good to hear from you. Halloween is a big deal here also. I think the adults enjoy it just as much as the kids.

Hi Joan, glad to come back to see a write up from you. The Autumn colours has truly arrived down here as well but they say when we have windy days by Tuesday a lot of the leaves will go as well so I suppose it will soon be winter woolies time again...and me no like winter !!!
Love for now Sybil xx

If I am not mistaken wasn't Canasta very popular in the 50s?

I seem to recall a pack lying about our house as a wee boy.

Thank you for your dreams!

Shalom Joan. Sorry aout the speck. I have done the tape it a few times myself. I too have a new pair: I was due for a doctor's visit and having the glasses renewed.
Being from New York, Halloween wasn't the big todo as it is today. I did live in NewEngland most of my life and there it done nicely. Salem, Ma, the place to be. Living here in the South, Halloween has become huge, second only to Christmas.
Me? Well to be honest, I am a Halloween hater, perfer Harvest and Autmun feastivals which celebrate life. But that's me :) It is so good to be back with my buds on Blogland.

Blogs I read.
